More information about the Notice of Returned Check
What is a dishonored check?
A check for which payment has been refused when the check was presented to the payee bank. Dishonor may be due to (1) NSF (non-sufficient funds), (2) invalid information, i.e. mismatched amount between words and figures or (3) stop payment order by the issuer.
A dishonored check is often called a returned check, a bounced check or a bad check.
